Digital loyalty programme prices 2026: what you get for free, and when it is worth paying
The price of a digital loyalty programme is about more than the monthly fee. We have gathered what the fee depends on, what may cost extra, what to ask before you pay, and how to work out whether it pays.
What the fee depends on
Plans differ in what they limit. Before comparing two offers, see which number you need to work out for your own shop:
-
The number of customers
How many customers can collect in your programme. Count how many regulars you have now, and how many you expect in a year.
-
The number of locations
If you sell in several places, a second location may mean an extra fee. A market stall or a summer terrace may count as a location too.
-
The number of staff
How many colleagues can log in to the counter under their own name. If everyone shares one account, you cannot see who recorded what.
-
The features
Automatic messages, tiers or a card that can be saved to the phone's wallet may only come with a larger plan.
-
The messages
SMS has a price per message, so a plan either includes an allowance or charges per message. E-mail and notifications to a card saved in a wallet are far cheaper channels.
What may cost extra
The monthly fee is only one line. Ask about these too, because they can be significant items even alongside a low monthly fee:
-
SMS
An SMS holds 160 characters, but only 70 if it contains even one ő or ű: these letters are not in the basic SMS character set. A message with Hungarian accents can easily count as two or three SMS.
-
The card
If the system gives customers a plastic card or an NFC sticker, making and replacing them may be a separate item.
-
The counter
Some systems need their own device at the counter. Ask whether it works with the phone or tablet you already have.
-
Setup
A one-off setup or training fee, not always shown next to the monthly fee.
-
The minimum term
On an annual contract, the attractive monthly fee is still owed if the programme has not worked out after six months.
Questions before you pay
- Do you need a card to try it, and does the free period expire?
- Does the customer need to download an app? Does it work on iPhone too?
- What does a message cost, and what happens when the allowance runs out?
- Can you cancel monthly, or is there a minimum term?
- What happens to customers' cards and balances if you cancel or move to a smaller plan?
- Where is the data, and who can access it?
Does it pay? A simple calculation
A loyalty programme pays if it brings in more return visits than it costs. For that you need two numbers: the monthly cost, and how much you make on an average visit.
The reward costs money too: for a free coffee, count what it costs you, not its price. A reward pays if the profit from the extra visits it brings is larger than what it costs you.
What you get free at Loyaltee
Loyaltee starts on a free plan, with no card needed, and the free plan does not expire. The customer's card is on their phone, in Google Wallet too on Android, and the counter needs no new device.
E-mails and notifications to a card saved in Google Wallet cost nothing. SMS comes out of the plan's monthly allowance, and the automatic channel only texts people it cannot reach any other way.
You pay monthly, can cancel any time, and after cancelling you carry on with the free plan: your customers' cards stay. How many customers, locations and staff each plan allows is on the pricing page.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a bank card to start?
No. The free plan starts without a card and never expires. You only enter a card when you switch to a paid plan.
Is there a minimum term or a hidden cost?
No. You pay monthly, you can cancel at any time, and after cancelling you carry on with the free plan — your customers keep their cards.
What do notifications cost?
E-mails and notifications to a card saved in Google Wallet cost nothing. SMS comes out of the plan's monthly allowance, and the automatic channel only sends an SMS to someone it can't reach any other way.
Why does an SMS with accents cost more?
Several accented Hungarian letters, such as ő and ű, are not in the basic SMS character set. If one of them is in the message, an SMS holds only 70 characters instead of 160, so the same text counts as more SMS.
